Pasaulinis interneto plitimas lėmė bene didžiausią politinę, kultūrinę ir socialinę transformaciją žmonijos istorijoje.
Beprecedentė prieiga prie milijardų žmonių informacijos lėmė neįtikėtinas galimybes ir žmogiškojo potencialo išlaisvinimą. Tačiau tokiu pat mastu tai lėmė visišką valstybės, privačių asmenų ir korporacijų gyventojų kontrolę, manipuliavimą viešąja nuomone ir sukčiavimą. Verta pažymėti, kad visos vartotojų informacijos sutelkimas technologijų įmonėse, prie kurių jie turi visišką prieigą, suteikia jiems neįtikėtinų konkurencinių pranašumų.
Stebint ir analizuojant šias tendencijas, 2009 metais gimė idėja sukurti išskirtinai savo reikmėms skirtą projektą.
Project, kuriame būtų galima bendrauti ir kaupti informaciją nebijant nutekėjimų ir trečiųjų šalių prieigos. Tačiau pastarųjų metų masiniai Juliano Assange’o ir Edwardo Snowdeno apreiškimai privertė mus permąstyti savanaudiškas idėjas ir išplėsti jas pasauliniu mastu. Absoliutaus privatumo koncepcija buvo iškelta į projekto galvą. Prasidėjo pasiruošimas: aprašymai, darbo sąlygos, komandos formavimas ir lėšų rinkimas. Projektui įgyvendinti reikėjo didelių finansinių išteklių. Bandymai gauti investicijų susidūrė su nepriimtinais reikalavimais, kurie dažnai prieštaraudavo projekto paradigmai. Ir tik po aštuonerių ilgų metų, 2017-aisiais, turėjome galimybę įgyvendinti šį projektą savo jėgomis, nepriklausomai nuo nieko.
